Water is initially present in a state where its molecules are far apart. During a change of state, its molecules slow down. Which change of state has most likely taken place?

First, it is important to know that any substance that has spread out molecules is in its gaseous state. So in this case, we know we are starting with water vapor and lowering the temperature because as you lower the temperature, the molecules move more slowly. As you decrease the temperature of water vapor, the vapor slowly condenses into a liquid. Therefore, condensation occurs because the water changed from a gaseous state to a liquid state.

I hope this helps.
