you can use an area model or partial products. 10 times 6 = 60 and 6 times 7 is 42 so just add them up

Suppose, Sherlyn's cupboard has 6 racks and there are 17 books in each rack. Find the total number of books in Sherlyn's cupboard.

Number of books in the first rack = 1 × 17 = 17

Number of books in the first two racks = 2 × 17 = 34

.

Number of books in all 6 racks = 6 × 17 = 102
