Writers use implied metaphors to help readers see ideas in new ways (b). A metaphor is a figure of speech. It is word or phrase that is applied to an object that is not literally true.An implied metaphor is a type of metaphor that compares two different or unlike objects by using a word or phrase that describes the unmentioned term. The comparison is made in this way. For example, The angry man barked at his son. This sentence is inferring that the man is barking like a dog.
