One of the conditions deemed important in delegated leadership style is unity of command.

Each person should be accountable to only one superior. If people are report to two or more superiors for the same duty, confusion and friction are the inevitable results. Multiple subordination should be avoided at all costs.

Another important condition is Clarification of limits of authority.

Limits of authority must be clarified to subordinates so that they may not assume excessive authority than required.

Limits of authority will allow subordinates to :

a) exercise initiative

b) develop themselves through freedom of action.

c) Know their area of operation

d) avoid misuse of authority.
