It motivated the Europeans to explore,(they hoped to find a sea way to India ) which resulted in their exploring ways to reach Asia by sailing around the globe, and in them "discovering" and settling in America - it changed the continent by completely transforming the culture, ethnic makeup and languages of the continent.
