X+2 over 3 = 8/5 solve for x

x=14/5

It is this because you would have to first multiply each side by 3, making the equation x+2=24/5, or 4 and 4/5.

Then you would have to subtract two from each side, making x=2 and 4/5, or 14/5

(x+2)/3 = 8/5

Multiply each side by 3 :

(x+2) = 24/5

Remove the parentheses on the left side:

x + 2 = 24/5

Subtract 2 from each side: (Express '2' as '10/5')

x = 24/5 - 10/5 = 14/5 = 2.8
