What you do to find out how many 3/4 are in 12 3/8 is divide it when you divide it you get 16 1/2 but it asks how many 3/4 and half isn't 3/4 so you round it down to 16 so your answer is 16, 3/4 pieces can be cut, by the was I had this question last year surprisingly I remember that we had this.

Answer:

17 pieces ( approx )

Explanation:

Given,

Length of the ribbon =
12(3)/(8) feet,

Length of each piece that have to be cut =
(3)/(4) foot,

Hence, the number of pieces =
\frac{\text{Length of ribbon}}{\text{Length of each piece}}

=(12(3)/(8))/((3)/(4))

=((99)/(8))/((3)/(4))

=(396)/(24)

=16.5

\approx 17
