Why did the Framers of the Constitution create a mechanism for amending the Constitution but then make it very difficult to actually make any changes?

The reason why the Framers of the Constitution created a mechanism for amending the Constitution but made it very difficult to actually make any changes is because they knew that times would change, and they wanted the Constitution to be able to "adapt" to new social environments and realities. At the same time, they wanted any change in the Constitution to be taken very seriously, so they made it more difficult for these changes to be implemented.
