The 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany - the home of the Nazis. The Nazis belief was that the Aryan Race was stronger, healthier, etc. than everyone else. The Olympics were at the height of the Nazi propaganda and they planned to utilize them to show their strengths. If members of the Aryan Race placed and took gold in all events, it would prove their points about being "better."
