Solution

The given function is

f(x)=(x-3)(x+4)

The area is given as:

\begin{gathered} f(x)=x(x+4)-3(x+4) \\ f(x)=x^2+4x-3x-12 \\ f(x)=x^2+x-12 \end{gathered}

Therefore the area is

f(x)=x^(2)+x-12
