The right option is B. Extension straightens a joint, and hyperextension bends it but in the opposite direction from flexion. Extension is a joint movement in which there is straightening of the bones or body surfaces at a joint against resistance while hyperextension is the extension and straightening of a joint beyond its normal range of motion. Hyperextension is an extreme form of an extension and it bends a joint in the opposite direction from flexion.
