The cell wall is the structure that surrounds the cytoplasm and gives the cell its shape. It forms the outer boundary of the cell and encloses the cytoplasm within. This cell membrane is made up of protein and sugar molecules known as polysaccharides. The cell membrane or cell wall also serves to protect the cell from the environment around it.
