1/4×8/8= 8/32 5/8×4/4= 20/32
8/32 + 20/32 = 28/32
answer for A is 28/32 answer for B is they can help you find a common denominator by the bottom one of each fraction if the top one don't have the same denominator. ☺

Answer and Explanation:

Given : Fareed wants to add
(1)/(4)+(5)/(8)

To find :

a. Add the fractions by using a Giant one to create a common denominator.

b. How can fractions help you find a common denominator?

Solution :

a) To make the denominator same we can multiply and divide the first fraction by 2,

i.e.
(1)/(4)* (2)/(2)=(2)/(8)

Now, Add the Giant fractions by substituting

(1)/(4)+(5)/(8)

=(2)/(8)+(5)/(8)

=(2+5)/(8)

=(7)/(8)

So,
(1)/(4)+(5)/(8)=(7)/(8)

b) Two fractions with common denominator is easier to solve as we directly add and subtract the numerator as denominator remain same.
