Why is the product of 8 x 8 called a square number

Because the answer 64 is a square root 8 can multiply by itself to equal the square root.

Square roots are basically a number times itself to equal a certain number. Not all numbers are perfect square.

64 is the square root of 8, because 8 x 8 is 64.
