(3x - 2) / (8) = (x/4) - 1

Multiply each side by 8 :

3x - 2 = 2x - 8

Add 2 to each side:

3x = 2x - 6

Subtract 2x from each side:

x = -6 .

(3x-2)/(8)= (x)/(4-1)

(3x-2)/(8)= (x)/(3)

Cross, Multiply :

3(3x-2) = 8x

9x-6 = 8x

9x - 8x - 6 = 0

9x - 8x = 6

\boxed{x = 6}

Note :
Remember this cross multiply formula :

(a)/(b) = (c)/(d) \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\, \to \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,(a * d) = (b * c)
