7 pairs of socks for 3 dollars each
7 * 3 = 21
21 + 12 = 33
$12 for the sweater for her dog
and then the 5 dollar bill
totally amount of change> 33 + 5 =38
so she spent 28 dollars but she had $38

7 pairs x $3 each = $21
21+12=33
So she spent $33 and gained $5
So she probably started off with about $38 on Saturday
Hope I helped :)
