tenths place in the number to the right of the decimal point.

tenth is 1/10 which is written as 0.1 therefore the place of digit 1 is tenths place.

when rounding to the nearest tenth we have to look at the number to thr right of the number in the tenths place.

digit in tenths place - 0

digit in number to the right of tenths place is - 0

since 0 is less than 5 we dont make any change to the digit in the tenths place. therefore 0 remains as 0

number rounded off to nearest tenth is

3.0

3.006 rounded to the nearest tenth is 3.0. This is due to the fact that the 6 rounded up will mean that the current 0 becomes 1, but this will not be carried to the tenth when rounding up.
