Glycosidic, peptide and ester bonds are referred to as dehydration synthesis or condensation reactions. Why are those terms (dehydration...)used to describe the reactions(peptide.....)?

I am pretty sure that dehydration takes an H2O molecule from the bonds to make the things bonded together break apart.
