Topographic maps are easily recognized by their contour lines. This is usually a map made in low scale that is highly detailed and made to be combined with other maps in order to have a bigger view of the terrain. They are commonly used by armies when things need to be invaded or defended because they show the angle of the terrain, the density of woods, and many other similar pieces of information.
