Yvonne bought 4 7/8 yards of material to make a dress.

If Yvonne wanted to make 3 dresses that use 4 7/8 yd of fabric each, explain how she could use estimation to make sure she has enough fabric for all of them.

She can round 4 7/8 as 5 yards of material. and since she's making three, multiply 5 yards by 3 dresses. that equals 15 yards of material needed.

Answer:

15 yards.

Explanation:

Each dress need fabric =
4(7)/(8) yards

=
(39)/(8) yards

She needs fabric to make 3 dresses =
(39)/(8) × 3

=
(117)/(8)

=
14(5)/(8) yards

She will need
14(5)/(8) yards or 14.63 ≈ 15 yards of fabric for all of 3 dresses.
