If you compare ill and Joe as far as scholarship

goes, you will have to conclude that ill is, without
any question, the brightest. Are there mistakes in the previous sentence?

If you compare Jill and Joe - as far as scholarship goes - you will have to conclude that Jill is, without question, the brightest.

The ones that jump out at me relate to the fact that "ill" is kind of a funny name for a person. I'm thinking they must both be misprints for "Jill" or "Bill" or "Will".
