i would do it like this:


`(60)/(100)* 5(1)/(2)`

(60% is the same as
`(60)/(100)`


`5(1)/(2)=(11)/(2)`

(so that there is no confusion, i've put it into an improper fraction

now we can multiply:

`(60)/(100)* (11)/(2)=`


`(6)/(10)* (11)/(2)=`


`(3)/(5)* (1)/(2)=`




`(3*11)/(10)=`


`(33)/(10)=`

which is 3.3.

so 60% of 5 and a half is 3.3.
