The substances in a compound are distributed by the variations in their mechanical characteristics, such as their particle quantity. The more varied the properties are, the comfortable it is to depart the substances. Tea leaves do not disintegrate in water, so you can use a filter to FILTER them. recall about the example of a blend of salt water. The salt is a non-volatile ionic compound. This means it is very hard to turn salt into a gas. It takes very high temps just to dissolve the salt. The water is an effervescent molecular composite which can be warmed to the boiling point benevolently quickly. This begins to evaporation which turns the liquid water into fog.

It is possible to use physical properties to separate a mixture- at least of solids. For example, in a mixture of sand and magnetite, the magnetite can be separated with a magnet to remove it. The magnetism is a physical property. Also, the magnetite is heavier than the sand so the sand can be washed off as in gold pan, leaving mostly magnetite.
