What is the value of x when |x/2|+3=9 1/4

You said that | x/2 | + 3 = 9 and 1/4

Subtract 3 from each side: | x/2 | = 6 and 1/4

Multiply each side by 2 : | x | = 12 and 1/2

That last statement is true if x = (12 1/2)
or
x = -(12 1/2)

so those are both solutions of the original equation.
