for the first one, you would distribute so:

2.3 + 1.5 + .5x (if you don't know, for distribution, you would do .5 times 3 and .5 times x to get the answer that I got)

.5x + 3.8 (now you add 2.3 and 1.5 to get this answer)

So .5x + 3.8 is your final answer

now for the second question:

you combine the like terms so:

(2y + 5y) + (3x + 6x) <----- first step

(7y + 9x)*4

28y + 36x

I am pretty sure this is the right answer, but I can be wrong because of the way the equation is put in. does the * mean multiplication? If so, you can't get an addition of a number without variables.

Hope this helps!

2.3 + 0.5(x + 3)
2.3 + 0.5(x) + 0.5(3)
2.3 + 0.5x + 1.5
2.3 + 1.5 + 0.5x
4.8 + 0.5x

2y + 3x + 5y + 6x(4)
2y + 5y + 3x + 24x
7y + 27x
