What happens when a liquid releases enough energy

Liquid get colder as energy is releases, eventually the liquid loses enough energy to become a frozen solid. At the molecular level, liquid molecules are in motion and fluid filled with motion. As energy is released the energy decreases making the molecules move slower until they only vibrate as in solid substances.
