There are 113 girls and 121 boys in the marching band. The routine the band is practicing has all the musicians standing in equal rows. If the number of rows is between 10 and 15, how many rows are there? How many musicians are standing in each row?

Answer:

13 rows, 18 musicians per row

Explanation:

Because there are in between 10 and 15 rows, I divided 234 (the total amount of musicians, 113+121) by all number in between 10 and 15: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Because the problem states that they were equally divided into, and you cant split a person into multiple parts, the answer logically must be a whole number. 234/ 13 rows equated to a whole number, or 18, the amount of musicians in each row.
