The Anti-Federalists were a political coalition that strongly opposed to the idea of a central government, and instead, leaned to the idea of granting more power to the states and the people, their goal was to protect their rights. With this goal in mind, they promoted the creation of a Bill of Rights as we know it today that lists some of the people's liberties and put limitation to the acts of government, for example, under the Bill of Rights, the government can not establish an official religion and it can not do unreasonable search and seizure of an individual or their private property.
