(1)/(4) y+ (3)/(4) =2

First, replace the '1' in
(1)/(4) y with 'y'.

(y)/(4) + (3)/(4) =2
Second, join the denominators since they are the same.

(y+3)/(4) =2
Third, multiply both of the sides by '4'.

y + 3 = 8
Fourth, subtract '3' from both of the sides.

y = 8 - 3
Fifth, subtract 8 - 3 to get 5.

y = 5

Answer: y = 5
