i have rows of cookies, with 5 cookies in each row. i have to give 3 rows away, but after i do that then my friend gives me 10 cookies from their bag, what is the change in the total number of cookies i have.

this gets you the -3(5) and then + 10 which -3(5)+10 = -5

I lost 5 cookies
