In order to find the unit rate for each we neeed to divide the distance eah car traveled by the amount given

for the blue car

\frac{35(1)/(2)mi}{1(1)/(4)\text{gal}}=(142)/(5)=(28.4mi)/(gal)

for the red car

\frac{20(4)/(5)mi}{(4)/(5)\text{gal}}=(26mi)/(gal)

The blue car can travel a longer distance on 1 gallon of gasoline
