6a+72-9=-2a-12

6a+63=-2a-12

8a+63=-12

8a=-75

a=-75/8

See step by step:

6(a+12)-9=-2(a+6)
6a+72-9=-2a-12
6a+2a=-12-72+9
8a=-75
a=-75/8
