'200 meters' and '19.30 seconds' are already stated to the nearest tenth. Names of people or places can't be rounded.

Rounding numbers make numbers easier to work with. The tenths is the place found immediately to the right of the decimal point. The next place is called the hundredths. If the number in the hundredths place is 5 or above, we add one to the number in the tenths place and let the other numbers go. If the number in the hundredths place is four or below, we let the other numbers go.


First. 200

200 is already rounded to the nearest tenth. Note that there is no any decimal point.


Second. 19.30 seconds

The number in the tenth place is 3 and the number in the hundredth place is 0, that is, zero is less than four, therefore we can say that this number rounded to the nearest tenth is:

19.30 or 19.3


Third. Usain bolt, jamaica

We can't round words. This concept is apply only to real numbers.
