Wehave the following:

according to the statement we have the following equation

d(p)=20\cdot((15)/(p)+8)

where d is the distance and p is gas cost

replacing when p is 2

\begin{gathered} d(2)=20\cdot((15)/(2)+8) \\ d(2)=310 \end{gathered}

Therefore he was able to travel a total of 310 miles
