The Constitution creates different lengths of terms for representatives and senators.

Write two to four sentences that explain the pros and cons of shorter and longer terms for your school legislature.

An advantage of longer terms is that they allow representatives to think more about their jobs and less about being reelected. It protects them from the pressure to please people in ways that may not be best for the school. Shorter terms, however, would give more people a chance to serve. They would also make representatives more responsive to the wishes of the community.

An advantage of a shorter term is that the representatives would not loose their motivation to work and would not treat their work as a routine that they just go through. Additionally, with shorter terms more people will participate in the governing body, which will lead to a better representation of the entire population.

The biggest disadvantage of a short term is that it does not let the people gain experience and correct their mistakes if they shall commit any.
