Call the geometric mean ' G '.

Then (3 / G) = (G / 6)

This is a proportion, and may be "cross-multiplied":

G² = 18

G = √18 = about 4.2426... (rounded)

geometric\ mean\ between \ a\ and\ b\ = √(a\cdot b) \\----------------------\\\\geometric\ mean= √(3\cdot6) = √(3\cdot3\cdot2) =3\cdot √(2)
