If we say a is the number we are looking for and b=10 and c=114 then we have: a+10=114. To find the number a we need to put b=10 on the other side and that will change its sign: a=114-10 so we can get a=104 and that is the number we are looking for.

Isolate x by subtracting 10 from both sides
X = 104
