3(4x−7)=27

(3)(4x)+(3)(−7)=27(Distribute)

12x+−21=27

12x−21=27

Add 21 to both sides.

12x−21+21=27+21

12x=48

Divide both sides by 12.

12x/12=48/12

x=4

3(4x - 7) = 27

First, divide both sides by 3. / Your problem should look like:
4x - 7 = (27)/(3)
Second, simplify
(27)/(3) to 9. / Your problem should look like:
4x - 7 = 9
Third, add 7 to both sides. / Your problem should look like:
4x = 9 + 7
Fourth, add 9 + 7 to get 16. / Your problem should look like:
4x = 16
Fifth, divide both sides by 4. (4 times 4 is 16) / Your problem should look like:
x = (16)/(4)
Sixth, simplify
(16)/(4) to 4. / Your problem should look like:
x = 4

Answer: x = 4
