To do this, we will first decompose each number, and then we will multiply each factor the greatest number of times that it occurs in any of the numbers:

36=2*2*3*3

24=2*2*2*3

LCM(36, 24)=2*2*2*3*3

LCM(36, 24)=72 seconds.

Finally we obtain that the two cars will take 72 seconds to meet again, this is equivalent to 1 minute and 12 seconds.
