I believe the answer is: They were happy for the additional settlements between themselves and Spanish Florida.

.

The additional settlements with Spanish Florida was deemed as really profitable by the people of south carolina. It bring many wealth to the state, opened up a lot of business opportunities on the state, and improve the military defense on the state.

They lost responsibility for some areas that they felt were hard to manage, so these areas would now be developed but not using their own budget. They were also glad about the fact there were now more settlements between themselves and Spanish Florida, which many in South Carolina viewed as a threat.
