At lungs level, trachea segmented into two primary bronchi each entering one lung that is, left primary bronchus enters the left lung and right bronchus enters the right lung.

In each lung, primary bronchi (both left and right) segmented into secondary bronchi and then into tertiary bronchi. Tertiary bronchi then divide into smaller airways termed as bronchioles.

These bronchioles eventually connect with alveoli, specialized sac-like structures which form the site for gas exchange.
