When conducting research for a thesis paper, what is the best way to determine the author’s point of view?

A good way of determining an author's point of view would be to gain contextual information about the time in which they are writing, or learn more about other research they have conducted. This is quite a subjective question, however, and dependent on which authors you are studying and what your thesis is on.
