An ostrich that is 180 inches tall is 20 inches taller than 4 times the height of a kiwi. what is the height of a kiwi in inches?

Answer:

let's call the weight of an ostrich o=180.

we know that o=20+4*k, or, if we substitute o for 180: 180=20+4*k

where k is the weight of a kiwi.

if we want to know k, we have to subtract 20 from both sides of the equation first:

160=4*k

and divide them by 4:

40=k

So a kiwi is 40 inches high.
