The answer is 11/19 because he doesnt put the pair of socks back in the drawer, so the denominator turns from 20 to 19, and turns 12 to 11

Question:

Michael has a drawer with 8 pairs of black socks and 12 pairs of white socks. Without looking he takes a white pair of socks out of the drawer. What is the probability that the next pair he takes out is white?

Answer:

8/19

Explanation:

The solution is 8/19 because:

Since Michael takes a pair of white socks out of the drawer there are 19 socks left in the drawer. Eight of those socks are black. Therefore, the probability of taking out a black pair of socks is 8/19.
