The process of writing repeating decimals or repeating pattern of digits by using a bar is called Bar Notation. Bar notation can be put with single or multi-digit repeating numbers or repeating patterns of decimals. For a single-digit repeating decimal, the repeating number is written once and a bar is put over it.
