f(x) = -x² - 2x + 1
0 = -x² - 2x + 1
x = -(-2) ± √((-2)² - 4(-1)(1))
2(-1)
x = 2 ± √(4 + 4)
-2
x = 2 ± √(8)
-2
x = 2 ± 2√(2)
-2
x = -1 ± -√(2)
x = -1 + (-√(2)) U x = -1 - (-√(2))
x = -1 - √(2) U x = -1 + √(2)
