\sf Slope = (y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)\\\\For~the~points~(x_1,y_1)~and~(x_2,y_2)\\\\\\ Slope = (1-(-4))/(-6-4) = (5)/(-10) = (-1)/(2)\\\\Slope~is~-(1)/(2)

(-6,1) \\ x_1=-6 \\ y_1=1 \\ \\ (4,-4) \\ x_2=4 \\ y_2=-4 \\ \\ \hbox{the slope: } m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)=(-4-1)/(4-(-6))=(-5)/(4+6)=(-5)/(10)=-(1)/(2)

The slope is -1/2.
