First, do distribution
6(5-8v)+12=-54
6x5=30
6 x -8v=-48v
30 - 48v = -54
subtract like term
-54 - 30 = -84
-48v = -84
Now divide -84 by -48v
so V = 1.75

-48v+12=-84
-48v=-96
