3*8 = 24
what adds to give us 14 which also multiplies to give us 24? 12 and 2
(3m^2 + 12m) + (2m+8)
factor out the 3m and the 2
3m(m+4)+2(m+4)
(3m+2)(m+4) is your answer

3m^2 + 14m + 8\\ 3m^2 + 12m + 2m + 8\\3m(m+4) + 2(m+4)\\\\(m+4)(3m+2)
