The centimetre is a unit of length in the metric system, equal to one-hundredth of a meter.
Then 5m = 5 × 100 cm = 500 cm ;

D 500 centimeters. Centi means 100.
a centimeter is 100th of a meter so 5 meters multiplied by 100= 500 :)
